World Doctors Orchestra performs for the benefit of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation – advance ticket sales have begun

In June, the WDO World Doctors Orchestra will give a concert at the Philharmonie in Berlin in aid of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation.

The World Doctors Orchestra

The World Doctors Orchestra (WDO) combines musical enjoyment with global medical responsibility. Two to three times a year, around 100 doctors from the WDO musicians’ circle of now over 1,000 doctors from 50 nations swap their gowns for evening gowns and tails to make music together for people in need. The WDO uses the proceeds from the concerts to support medical projects.

The WDO is led by its founder and conductor Dr. Stefan Willich, Professor of Medicine at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and former Rector of the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin.

This year’s program

The orchestra is looking forward to opening the concert with György Ligeti’s Atmosphères, still undeniably a seminal work. The WDO is also proud to have secured the internationally renowned harpist Xavier de Maistre for the joint performance of François-Adrien Boieldieu’s Concerto for Harp and Orchestra in C major. The concert will conclude with Richard Wagner’s Der Ring ohne Worte, a one-hour synthesis of the 15 hours of Ring des Nibelungen operas, masterfully arranged by Lorin Maazel.

Supporting the work of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation

From the very beginning, the World Doctors Orchestra has supported the efforts of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation to promote the promising work of Hugo Tempelman in South Africa. Prof. Willich got to know Hugo Tempelman and became personally involved. The World Doctors Orchestra has already played in front of a large audience in Elandsdoorn for the benefit of Hugo Tempelman’s work. We are delighted to be supported by the World Doctors Orchestra again this year.
Advance ticket sales have begun. Tickets are available from 18.85 euros. The proceeds from the concert in Berlin will go to the Hugo Tempelman Foundation for the work of the Ndlovu Care Group in the Limpopo Province in South Africa.
