During our visit to Elandsdoorn, we got to know the local station of Radio Moutse. This was particularly interesting for our Board member Victor Worms. He began his career as a journalist and presenter at RTL radio and television. He later worked as Head of Entertainment and Program Director for Antenne Bayern before moving to ZDF as Head of Entertainment. Today he works as a consultant in the radio sector and trains presenters. In this respect, it was particularly exciting for him to get to know the workplaces and approaches of his South African colleagues. He was particularly impressed by the radio station’s slogan “Your friend to rely on”: “Here, radio is what it should be: Part of the community and a space for stories of people who just want to (survive) in peace.”
Radio Moutse supports the Ndlovu Care Group
The station has been working with the Ndlovu Care Group, especially with Hugo Tempelman, for many years. At the beginning of March, Radio Moutse actively supported the work of the Ndlvou Care Group and gave the audiology team airtime to talk about hearing loss and its consequences. To mark World Hearing Day on March 3, which this year has the theme: “Hear the future and prepare for it”, the team informed the Moutse community about how hearing loss can be prevented or its impact reduced. The theme for this year fits perfectly with what the audiology program has done since its inception and continues to do: remind, encourage and support the public to take care of their own ear health and go for annual check-ups.
Many thanks to the team at Radio Moutse for their support, which helps to spread the work of Hugo Tempelman far and wide.
