During our visit to Bloempoort, we were also able to see for ourselves the successful implementation of our funding for the computer school. Thanks to Energetix Bingen and the RTL “Wir helfen Kindern” foundation, the computer school was put into operation last year.
Special security measures of the computer school
The security of the IT classroom was interesting. The structural measures included thicker walls, barred windows and a sheet steel door with triple locking. The roof is also reinforced with concrete blocks and iron reinforcement. All of this serves to protect the common property and prevent break-ins.
Excellent commitment from the school
There are 19 fully equipped computer workstations. In South Africa too, computer skills are an essential part of a solid school and workplace education – just like here. This is why the combined primary and secondary school in Bloempoort offers computer courses, with graduates receiving certificates to prove their qualifications. The school in Bloempoort has a high success rate and low drop-out rate, which is not a given in rural areas of South Africa. We wanted to support the commitment of the school management and parents as well as the pupils’ desire to learn with this new infrastructure and additional educational offer.
After all, what kind of future does a young person have these days without computer skills?
