In 1996, three hectares of land were leveled in collaboration with the famous Dutch professional footballer Johann Cruyff and the Herman van Veen Foundation to get the young people of Elandsdoor off the streets. Soccer, basketball and volleyball pitches as well as table tennis courts were built and the first tournaments were held shortly after the opening. Hundreds of children and young people have been using the sports field enthusiastically ever since, and crime in Elandsdoorn has fallen dramatically. In 2005, a fitness room was added, which belongs to the municipality of Elandsdoorn and is maintained by the young people themselves. The sports facilities are also used as part of the physiotherapy treatment for AIDS patients at the Ndlovu Medical Center.
