The mini campus in Bloempoort, which was opened less than a year ago, also includes a piece of garden land that is tended and cared for. Before, there was only barren soil with wild grass and weeds. This week, the cultivation is now bearing its first fruits: a rich tomato harvest is on the horizon.
The concept of garden cultivation is an important part of the Ndlovu minicampus facilities. As part of the nutrition stations, the aim is to teach people how to plant seeds, grow their own vegetables and do gardening. Not only on the minicampus grounds, but also at home. They are taught the skills at the minicampus and take the seeds home with them, where they can also put what they have learned into practice. The aim of this initiative is to provide healthy and sustainable nutrition for the often malnourished children.
This week, all their efforts were rewarded with a wonderful tomato harvest. This project was made possible by the financial support of Bild e.V. “Herz für Kinder”, Hugo Tempelman Foundation, Tjomme Foundation and Energetix Bingen.
