If we want to achieve true peace in the world, we have to start with the children.
These words of Mahatma Gandhi are the motto of the work of Hugo Tempelman, his Ndlovu Care Group and thus also of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation.
And with this in mind, we also supported the Ndlovu Care Group’s children and youth programs last year. Among other things:
January saw the first day of school at the new Ndlovu Minicampus in Bloempoort. Thanks to the generous donation from Bild hilft e.V. “Ein Herz für Kinder”, the Hugo Tempelman Foundation was able to provide significant financial support for this extensive project.
And as we know from Hugo and his Ndlovu Care Group, idleness is not their thing. Shortly afterwards, construction work began on the mini-campus computer school. This was largely financed with the help of ENERGETIX and the RTL “Wir helfen Kindern” foundation.
Once again this year, we are grateful to the many ENERGETIX supporters who regularly ensure that we can actively support the numerous children’s projects of the Ndlovu Care Group. With all the new projects, we must not forget that existing projects such as the Ndlovu Child Care Program for orphans and traumatized children also need constant financial support. Here we can always count on our friends from ENERGETIX. Whether they get involved physically and regularly raise a large sum of money at the Gutenberg Marathon in spring or support us with a generous annual donation at the catalog presentation in August, everything benefits the children in South Africa.
A major topic this year was the start of work with disabled children. Thanks to Bild hilft e.V. “Ein Herz für Kinder”, the Hugo Tempelman Foundation was able to provide the purchase of a transport bus, which still had to be adapted for the disabled. This is a huge relief for the families, as the children and their accompanying person can now be collected from the day center every day and brought home again safely. A service that significantly supports treatment readiness.
A big thank you once again to all those who support us so actively.
There are also many projects waiting to be implemented in the coming year.
This year, our board member Helge Sasse, together with Ralf the choirmaster and Rachel Faro, an American producer, recorded a CD with the members of the choir, which will be released in 2018.
Another major project was also initiated by one of our Board members: Radio Ndlovu. Thanks to Victor Worms, his good contacts and profound knowledge, the Hugo Tempelman Foundation would like to enable the Ndlovu Care Group to start its own radio program. This not only has the advantage of direct information distribution – because radio is an important information medium in South Africa. Preventive education as well as information about events and meetings can be disseminated very easily in the widespread community. In addition, we would of course also like to create jobs and apprenticeships with this offer. A project plan for this is currently being drawn up. The equipment, a complete studio, is already ready for shipment to South Africa. This was donated by Regiocast, a German media company with interests in radio stations, radio marketing companies and other service providers in the media sector.
With the help of the RTL “Wir helfen Kindern” foundation and ENERGETIX, we also have the budget for a sports field at the Ndlovu preschool in Tholulwazi. This will also be opened next year.
In general, the running costs for the mini-campus in Bloempoort can be secured for another two years – thanks to the generous support of Judith Dommermuth.
As a highlight of the coming year, we are delighted that the World Doctors Orchestra will be giving a benefit concert in aid of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation next summer. All proceeds will be donated to the children’s projects of the Ndlovu Care Group.
Bild hilft e.V. “Ein Herz für Kinder” has promised us funding for two more centers for the disabled. However, the operating costs and, above all, the personnel costs have not yet been secured. At the moment, we are doing everything we can to obtain support for this. If this is successful, the construction of two more rehabilitation centers in Elandsdoorn and the surrounding area can begin next year.
We would be delighted if you would continue to support us next year. Every cent is welcome for the children’s aid projects.
In the coming year, we will once again devote all our energy and attention to children. Our aim is to create an environment worth living in for them in their home country and thus provide them with the basis for a hopeful future. Help us to achieve this!
We wish all our friends and supporters a successful and exciting 2018.
