News from Charlotte

Charlotte is doing everything she can to train as a nurse. In addition to her work placement in the emergency department at the hospital in Pretoria, she is taking many additional training courses. This is despite the fact that she started working night shifts last month.

For example, she completed the following tests on correct behavior in one month:

Ventilation and resuscitation

Sexual abuse

Children’s rights and related legal issues

Triage, i.e. initial assessment in the emergency room.

As a first aider in the emergency department, Charlotte needs a lot of sensitivity, empathy and, above all, expertise to give patients peace of mind in their emergency situation. Charlotte is the best person to do this.

With such a heavy workload and extreme working hours, it was important for Charlotte to find an apartment near the clinic. Some time ago, she moved in with a very nice little family. Much to her relief! She is now only a few minutes’ walk from the hospital, which is a particular advantage during the night shifts.

We are always delighted to be able to report on Charlotte, because although her life started out so difficult, she is making a real success of it. Through hard work and diligence. A role model for many others.

Charlotte and her learning sisters.
