At the Ndlovu Care Group in Elandsdoorn, each month has a specific theme, which the team uses to educate the population. In September, for example, the main focus was on cancer prevention. On September 21, the employees organized a small parade through Moutse to draw attention to the topic. All participants were dressed in pink and a long, cheerful stream of people made its way through the streets. The parade ended at the Miracle Theater, where 6 cancer patients who had beaten their disease spoke about their experiences.

October marks the start of Hearing Awareness Month. Once again, everything revolves around preventive and medical care for the ear. We have often reported on the importance of healthy hearing, especially for babies and children. That’s why the Ndlovu team is always focusing on this topic. This month, the focus is on the special needs of deaf people. Educational brochures were handed out to staff at the Ndlovu clinics to draw their attention to the audiological needs of some patients. Training is provided on the importance of audiological examinations in the holistic approach to medical care at Ndlovu. In addition, themed radio broadcasts were made and primary school teachers at local schools were also taught how to deal with hearing-impaired children in the classroom.

In addition to all these projects and the daily work, the team also managed to lovingly refurbish the children’s corner in the Elandsdoorner Klinik. The young and old patients are grateful and we are always touched and delighted by so much commitment!
