The Ndlovu Care Group is taking on more and more of its social services. Compliance with hygiene regulations and social distancing rules is a matter of course. At the beginning of March, on World Hearing Day, the Audiology team organized an awareness campaign at Bloempoort Preschool. Parents were able to learn about the importance of proper ear care and early diagnosis. Afterwards, they were able to have their ears examined. The very youngest children were given a little dance on their ears in a fun and entertaining way.
The team has been on the road a lot these days. They were at the Moutse Radio Community Station to raise awareness of the importance of ear examinations. They also took the opportunity to examine all employees.
The choir was also on the road on behalf of ear health. To celebrate World Hearing Day on March 3, they recorded a special version of “Wonderful World”. A video and word dance were released to encourage that no one is excluded. People with hearing loss should be encouraged to reach their full potential through rehabilitation, education and empowerment.
Annual hearing tests are important because hearing loss can come on gradually and remain undetected. Just like Thandeka. She tells her story in a short interview. After experiencing hearing problems, she came into the care of the Ndlovu Care Group’s audiology team. There she received a hearing aid and can now use her hearing again.
If hearing problems are recognized early, help and a cure are possible.
