Hugo on a relief mission

The Ndlovu Care Group has once again managed to deliver parcels to around 2,000 people in Moutse Limpopo within two days. Yesterday, Hugo drove along in one of the cars to witness the delivery in person. He told us about a “very emotional road trip: the hunger caused by COVID-19 is almost worse than the virus itself. People are desperate, hungry and devastated. They are lost …”

The picture shows a household in which two friends live together with their 4 and 3 children respectively. They have also taken in two orphans from neighbors who have recently passed away. No water, no toilet, no income, no space, no blankets, no food and winter is coming.

The COVID-19 pandemic means restrictions for all of us. But it has plunged the poorest of the poor into a desperate, life-threatening situation. To combat hunger, the Ndlouv Care Group set up seedling farms in South Africa right at the start of the lockdown. Young plants are grown here, which are then distributed to the families with the food parcels. In this way, everyone can create and cultivate their own small kitchen garden.

After 14 days, all the beds are already green, as you can see in this video. The first plants can already be distributed with the next delivery.

Together with the Ndlovu Care Group, the Hugo Tempelman Foundation helps wherever it can.

You too can help in the fight against hunger.
