Health promotion at Mohlako Primary School: early support for better learning

As part of the Outreach Roadshow, the Ndlovu Care Group team visited Mohlako Primary School in South Africa to provide medical support to fourth grade pupils. Together with Ndlovu-Wits Audiology Services and Hadassah Eye Care, the children received comprehensive hearing and vision tests. These examinations help to identify impairments at an early stage and initiate targeted help so that no child is left behind in learning due to avoidable health restrictions.

In addition, the Department of Social Work offered psychosocial support. This service strengthens the emotional and social development of the children and helps them to develop not only at school but also personally.

The Hugo Tempelman Foundation, based in Germany, has supported the Ndlovu Care Group as a reliable partner for many years. It is this cooperation that makes projects such as the Outreach Roadshow possible in the first place: they bring medical care and psychosocial support directly to people in rural regions who otherwise often have no access to such services.

“Each of these initiatives brings us closer to our common goal: healthy, resilient communities where every child has the chance of a successful future,” emphasizes Vivi Eickelberg, CEO of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation.

The Hugo Tempelman Foundation would like to thank all those involved for their valuable cooperation and their contribution to a sustainably healthy future for the children of the region.
