First-class radiology examination in rural South Africa

Professional support for the radiology department of the Ndlovu Care Group: last year, Hugo Tempelman succeeded in recruiting Frances von der Merwe for the Ndlovu Medical Center team. She graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology and has been working as an X-ray diagnostician for 26 years. Before joining Ndlovu Medical Center, she worked in several private radiology practices, where she also received training in computed tomography and magnetic resonance.

Frances von der Merwe is a trained X-ray diagnostician at the Ndlovu Medical Center.

The Ndlovu Medical Care Center offers a first-class service in the rural area around Limpopo. The clinic provides comprehensive services to the population, including primary health care for everyone, HIV/AIDS care, tuberculosis treatment, cervical cancer management and pregnancy health services, audiology services and a pharmacy.

The clinic also operates an on-site laboratory for special examinations as well as an X-ray facility. The digital radiography department offers a non-invasive test to help doctors diagnose and treat diseases. A variety of radiology procedures can be performed here.

As the doctors at Ndlovu Medical Centre are all general practitioners, they cannot specialize in every field. This is why the Ndlovu Care Group has opted for digitalized X-rays. In case of doubt, the X-ray image can be sent by e-mail to the radiology specialist. They will check the X-ray image and send feedback with specialist advice.

In this way, special care can be offered in the rural clinic that is otherwise only available in large cities.

Digitized X-rays are standard equipment at the Ndlovu Medical Center.

State-of-the-art equipment is part of the radiological examination.
