First aid thanks to RTL: water tank wheelbarrow for the Food Gardens in Elandsdoorn

The first custom-made products for the Food Gardens arrived these days: Water Wheel Tankers (WWT). These are mobile irrigation systems for the food gardens initiated by the Ndlovu Care Group. They hold up to 100 liters of water and are very easy to operate, even by children or the elderly.

For the families, this is a great help for self-sufficiency in the daily laborious procurement of water. As Morongwa Magongoa, Child Care & Youth Development Programs Manager Ndlovu Care Group, tells us, they are relying on the “domino effect”. The WWTs are intended to arouse the interest of other households and encourage them to set up their own kitchen gardens. “We have seen that many households have asked for support to start their own vegetable gardens, and if the vegetable gardens multiply, the hunger pandemic can be combated.”

This initiative is supported by “RTL Wir helfen Kindern e.V.”, which is committed to the creation of kitchen gardens through the mediation of the Hugo Tempelman Foundation. Thanks to the RTL donation marathon, they are supporting the creation of a further 750 gardens. The water tank wheelbarrows are the first building block.

Thank you very much.
