EMOTIONAL AND CAPTIVATING!

An enthusiastic audience celebrated the now internationally successful NDLOVU YOUTH CHOIR at the Admiralspalast on July 4.

Our Hugo Tempelman Foundation has supported the choir, which consists exclusively of young people from the township of Elandsdoorn in South Africa, from the very beginning. We have been supporting the work of Hugo Tempelman’s NDLOVU CARE GROUP since 2007. One of the most successful projects from the children’s and youth work is the NDLOVU YOUTH CHOIR, which was founded in 2009 and, thanks to Ralf Schmitt – choirmaster, coach, confidant – very quickly developed into a choir with great singers and dancers who radiate an incredible energy and joie de vivre that nobody can escape.

One of the highlights of the concert was a song performed by a young soloist from the choir with a deep, touching voice. The young soloist sang with her wonderful voice about the abuse of girls and women in South African townships. Perpetrators from the family environment are almost the rule. In the background, a black screen was projected with the names of abused girls and women in white, impressively documenting the tragedy of those affected. All names are expressly authorized by the women.

“The Ndlovu Youth Choir continues to demonstrate that music is a powerful force that can connect and move people. We are grateful that we, as the Hugo Tempelman Foundation, can help spread these messages and advocate for those most in need of support and change,” says Vivi Eickelberg, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Addressing important issues and initiating social change is what the foundation is all about.

The concert at the Admiralspalast was not only a great musical performance, but also an opportunity to raise awareness of social challenges in South African townships.
