The Hugo Tempelman Foundation wishes everyone a happy and hopeful Easter.
Even at this time, we would like to remind you that giving hope can be so simple. As part of its rehabilitation program for disabled children, the Ndlovu Care Group visits the children’s homes to see what needs to be done locally to help. And it often only takes a little to significantly improve the quality of life.
Achieving big improvements with small changes
The team visited Nthabiseng, for example. She is in a wheelchair. If she wants to get into her house, she has to let herself slide off the wheelchair to get over the threshold. Once she has done this, the next challenge is to get the wheelchair through the door. If this is not possible, it has to stop in front of the door and Nthabiseng has to crawl.

The Ndlovu Care Group installed concrete ramps all around the house. Nthabiseng can now enter her house without barriers. Door thresholds and transitions were also filled in inside so that she can now move around much more easily.

A small measure, little effort and low cost – but a life-changing improvement for Nthabiseng.
Better living conditions thanks to simple concrete ramps
During the regular visits, however, more and more needs are identified. Proper beds or seating furniture are a real gift for handicapped children. Electrical connections are also identified in many places – if there is any electricity at all – which pose a real danger to children.
The Ndlovu Care Group helps wherever it is needed. “Ultimately, we want to create better living conditions for our children. Some of them can easily move around in wheelchairs, but they keep encountering challenges such as uneven floors, no ramps, no handrails, etc. We are determined to ensure that all these obstacles are a thing of the past,” says one employee. That is why the Ndlovu Care Group is making a public appeal for all community members with disabled children in and around Elandsdoorn and Bloempoort to contact the Ndlovu Child Care Community Service. They will receive support there.
