2018 starts with new effectiveness: The Audiology team takes the opportunity to offer free ear examinations while patients wait for their consultation appointment with the doctor at the Ndlovu Medical Center.
Every morning, an Audiology employee informs people in the waiting room about the new service. The otoscopy takes 5 to 10 minutes. This means that the patient’s ear canal and eardrum are examined for any abnormalities or foreign bodies that may interfere with hearing. If an impairment is detected, patients are referred directly to the audiology clinic for further examination or treatment.
The team would like to encourage more people to have their hearing checked. And the patients welcome this service: “At least we’re making good use of the time while we wait for the doctor.” In January alone, 100 patients have already been examined.
