The first food parcels have arrived!

Many thanks to everyone who has responded to our appeal for food parcels so far. With your donation, you have made it possible for the Ndlovu Care Group helpers to distribute the first food parcels to the many children and their families so that no one has to go hungry.

The fundraising campaign is not yet over. As long as the Ndlovu Care programs are not allowed to reopen, the care of the children at home is not secured. Please continue to support us and donate so that the Ndlovu Care Group can continue to buy food.

Happy Easter!

We wish everyone a Happy Easter – despite the current circumstances. There is probably no better way to put it than President Steinmeier. He addressed the population today with an extraordinary televised speech.

The coronavirus pandemic is a test of our humanity, said Steinmeier. “Let’s show each other the best in us.”

We agree with this and share Steinmeier’s closing words: “Happy Easter, all the best – and let’s take care of each other.”

The Ndlovu Care Group is ready

The preparations are complete, protective clothing, equipment and medical supplies are ready. Doctors, nurses and carers are all in the front line to help people as quickly as possible.

Here – as everywhere else in the world – they are on the front line, giving their all in the fight for people’s health. We thank all the people in the healthcare sector who are putting their own fears, needs and families on hold these days to be there for others.

Thank you very much!

Elandsdoorn prepares for the lockdown – medical care

The Ndlovu Care Group is preparing to protect the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

By setting up as a doctor 25 years ago, Hugo laid the foundations for a village to develop in this wasteland in the South African hinterland. Now, a dedicated team of nurses and doctors are on the front line with him in the fight against the pandemic. They are all currently being trained by Hugo Tempelman in dealing with coronavirus and infected patients.

Everything is being done to prevent infection and help individual patients as much as possible. A loud vehicle drives through the community and reminds people to social distance and stay at home.

As everywhere else, protective clothing is only available to a limited extent. Hugo gets in touch via Facebook. In his guide, he explains how everyone can protect themselves effectively with the simplest of means.

All you need is a standard transparent film, two cable ties and adhesive tape. The virus, which enters the mouth, eyes and nose via droplet infection through the mucous membranes, is kept out through direct contact. Of course, hygiene regulations must also be observed.

A simple, cheap but effective measure. Stay healthy!

Elandsdoorn prepares for the lockdown – caring for the children

Due to the current situation, all of the Ndlovu Care Group’s children’s and youth programs have had to be temporarily closed. This not only severely restricts the children’s regular daily routine. The two important meals that the children received daily at the facilities have also been cut. Many of them are once again at risk of malnutrition. The Ndlovu Care Group is now organizing the distribution of care packages: Employees bring the much-needed food to the homes of the affected families. Currently 382 families are being provided for.

The children in the disability rehabilitation programs have been particularly hard hit. Day care has had a positive impact on all children. Many of their complaints have been alleviated, and in some cases they have even been taught skills that have led to an unexpected improvement in their quality of life. Real support took place here. Due to the temporary closure of the facilities, all children run the risk of relapsing. First and foremost, the regular provision of nutritious food is crucial here.

The help that Hugo and his employees are providing in these difficult times is vital for most of them. You can see the first pictures here. These are all children who have been admitted to the Ndlovu Care Group’s program for the disabled. Even now, they are not left alone.

Money is urgently needed so that the Ndlovu Care Group can continue to provide the children with food.

Donate if you can. Every euro really counts here!
